 Olga U. Kuznetsova
Olga Yu. Kuznetsova graduated from the Medical Faculty of Leningrad Sanitary
- Hygienic Medical Institute in 1972. After graduation she worked as a physician
(anesthesiologist - reanimatologist) in the clinics of the same institute. In
1978 she finished residency at the Department of Anesthesiology and Reanimatology
of the Leningrad GIDUV (the Academy's former name), and then finished doctoral
program.
In 1982 she was invited to work as an Assistant to the Department, on which
the improvement courses were provided for the physicians of first aid. The subject
of her post - doctoral thesis was "Actual Issue Nowadays of Treatment of
Pain Syndrome of Patients with Myocardial Infarction and Injured with Heavy
Traumas".
After defending the post - doctoral thesis she was awarded the academic title
of Professor and worked at this position at the same Department till 1996. Since
1995 she took participation in the program of the first grant of SPbMAPS, which
was received together with the University of Iowa (USA) and was devoted to the
development of family medicine in St.-Petersburg. The participation in this
project has predetermined the subsequent changes of her professional activity
- she was offered to lead this field in the Academy and to become the Head of
the newly formed Department of Family Medicine.
In 1998 after her work as the Dean's Assistant of College of General Medical
Practice she was elected the Dean, and afterwards she was assigned as Vice rector
on International Affairs. At this period the work in different international
fields was activated in the Academy. The programs of grants with participation
of different Departments, devoted to the development of general practice, management,
nursery, prophylactic programs, including prophylaxis and treatment of AIDS,
were conducted. The preparation for one of the largest projects – creation of
St.-Petersburg School of Public Health – began.
At the present time at the majority of the Departments the international activity
is conducted. One of the priorities of this activity is the preparation of the
future generation of the lecturer of the Academy in accordance with international
requirements. In 2000 alongside with international work, responsibility to lead
one of the important fields of postgraduate education, which is the residency
training, was offered. Olga Yu. Kuznetsova is the leading expert of St.-Petersburg
Public Health Committee. Since 1997 she is a chief editor of “The Russian Family
Doctor” journal. Olga Yu. Kuznetsova is the author of more then 150 scientific
works. Issues of pain and anesthesia, prophylaxis of the most significant non-infectious
diseases remain in the area of her scientific interests.
